Sensum was pleased to be a brand sponsor for the 3rd Modular Construction and Prefabrication Conference which was held in both Sydney and Melbourne this March. This exciting event provided a platform to exhibit and discuss the latest techniques and technology in modular construction and prefabrication. It offered a valuable opportunity to learn about best practices from modular builders who have innovatively delivered modern modular buildings.
The theme for 2018 was “Innovation, Sustainability, Efficiency, Quality”. By sharing the latest cutting-edge knowledge and ideas, opening dialogue for constructive discussions and bringing together the leading minds at the forefront of this progressive area of construction, the conference served to strengthen and enhance the uptake of modular construction methodology in the Australia New Zealand construction industry.
Sensum was represented by both Directors, Nick Strongman and Tom Bennison as well as Business Development Manager Andrew Case and Program Manager Adam Shkolnik.
Nick presented at both the Sydney and Melbourne conferences with Associate Professor Tuan Ngo from the University of Melbourne’s Australian Research Council Training Centre for Advanced Manufacturing of Prefabricated Housing (ARC CAMP H). Nick’s delivery focused on the Permanent Modular Schools Building Program and highlighted Sensum’s recent Southmoor Primary School Project. This project consisted of the replacement of two teaching facilities which had been identified as containing problematic asbestos, totalling 800m2. Southmoor’s new modular buildings offer a fast and efficient solution, are sustainable and innovatively designed. These modern buildings offer a comparable lifespan to bricks and mortar structures. Further details of this project are noted in the Projects section of our website.
All Sensum participants were delighted to meet other like-minded individuals pursuing the advancement and progress of modular construction. The industry currently offers a 60% – 70% reduction on conventional build time as well as a 20% reduction in cost. Sensum looks forward to supporting the conference in coming years.
