We redeveloped Somers School Camp in early 2017, delivering eight new prefabricated dormitory rooms to provide a much-deserved facelift.
To honour Somers School Camp’s aim to inspire students with environmental awareness, we ensured that works had the least possible impact on the local natural environment. The offsite construction method meant that we produced minimal construction waste.
The dormitory rooms comprise sleeping quarters, shower and toilet facilities, and a breakout learning space.
As part of the project we safely removed asbestos-containing materials. All asbestos removal works were carried out in strict accordance with the Victorian Health and Safety framework. We are experts at ensuring there is no risk posed to the health of the school or local community.
It took eight weeks for us to manage asbestos removal, demolition, delivery and installation of the new dormitories. Unlike traditional construction practices, the process for installing the prefabricated dormitories ensured that disruption of Somers School Camp’s services was limited.
