Victorian School Design Awards 2020 – A win!

The finalists and winners of the 2020 Awards were announced on 16 December 2020. Congratulations to all of the recipients!

We are thrilled to share that South Yarra Primary School won the award for Best School Project – Between $5 million – $10 million.

Sensum worked as the superintendent and project manager for this project alongside B2 Architecture and Grove Group.

 

The $6m design brought to life a three-storey modular learning centre with 12 general purpose classrooms, support spaces and amenities.

Key features include:

• The rooms’ sliding walls, allowing for flexible learning spaces
• An elevator to ensure accessibility for all students.
• Thermal glazing, low energy lights and water efficient appliances – embracing the school’s strong focus on sustainability.
• Fantastic integration with the existing heritage buildings and indoor/outdoor spaces.

 

The judges specifically noted the building’s flexible and functional nature for modern learning, and the suitability of modular design in quickly meeting the needs of a fast-growing school on a constrained site.
